- Hallo.
-
- I'm thinking about using my Amiga for digital cutting of videos, but
- since I've been away for the last year and wasn't following the
- development, I wonder what the current status of that is.
-
- I understand that one uses Motion JPEG to digitize the video, and then
- one can cut the video on the harddrive, implement special effects for
- transitions from one scene to another, and eventually one records the
- results again on video.
- One uses Motion JPEG instead of MPEG since one wants to have access to
- every single frame, right ?
- Is it correct that the picture quality one gets depends almost
- exclusively on the compression of the JPEG's ? What sort of data rates
- does one get if the quality should be equal to SVHS/Hi 8 ?
-
- Now, what hardware exits for the Amiga ? I've heard of the VLab Motion,
- but I guess there must exit more cards by now. Can one easily cut the
- audio data, too ? (The sound card Toccata is needed for the VLab, I think)
- And what Amiga requirements are needed ? Is Zorro II good enough (The
- throughput is the limiting factor everywhere with digital video,
- I guess) ? I'm thinking of getting an Amiga 1200 with '060 card and
- a tower with ZORRO II ports. Would this probably be sufficient ?
-
- It would be very kind if someone could 'update' my knowledge in this
- respect (One year on New Zealand makes you lack behind a bit.. But it has
- lots of other advantages !!).
- Thanks a lot
-
- Oliver.
